We Put a Slot Machine in Our Footer
At some point while building the SELLBOORU website, we had a very reasonable thought:
We're making slot games.
Why doesn't the website have a slot machine?
So now it does.
Scroll to the bottom of almost any page and, right before the footer, there's a small 5×3 slot.
It doesn't use money.
There are no credits.
There are no prizes.
It exists because we thought it would be funny.
One Last Spin?
The original idea was simple.
Instead of ending every page with another block of company information, we wanted something that felt more like us.
So the last thing you see before the footer is:
ONE LAST SPIN?
Then five reels.
Then a SPIN button.
That's it.
The reels stop one by one from left to right, and the middle row decides the result.
Three matching symbols:
WIN.
Four:
BIG WIN.
Five:
MEGA WIN.
And then there's the stupid one.
Five SELLBOORU S symbols.
MAX WIN.
50,000×.
No, you don't actually win anything.
You just get to be today's main character.
The Symbols Are Already Becoming a Tiny History of the Studio
Right now, most of the symbols are temporary.
But each one represents something from one of our games.
A toy.
A train.
A wheel.
A bunny.
Something industrial.
Something from the zombie project.
Something from NUT FACTORY.
And the SELLBOORU S sits at the top.
The plan is to replace those temporary symbols over time.
When THE TOYS has finished game assets, one of its real symbols can go in.
When SCARLET SUCCUBUS is further along, the character can replace the placeholder bunny.
When REDLINE has proper art, the train gets upgraded.
If we keep doing that, this dumb little footer slot eventually becomes a miniature record of everything we've made.
We like that idea more than we probably should.
We Even Gave It Actual Odds
We could have cheated.
The game could simply decide that every twentieth spin is a big win, play an animation and call it a day.
Instead, the symbols have weights.
The SELLBOORU symbol is much rarer than the others, and MAX WIN isn't scheduled.
It has to actually happen.
Which means somebody could theoretically spend an unreasonable amount of time sitting at the bottom of our website trying to hit it.
Please don't do that.
Actually...
do whatever you want.
It's Completely Pointless
And that's kind of why we like it.
Not every part of a studio website needs to explain the company, sell something or collect an email address.
Sometimes a tiny pointless detail says more than another paragraph ever could.
We're a slot studio.
Of course we put a slot in the footer.
